Uzès – Pont du gard

The Gard, from the Cévennes to the sea...

The Gard has roots in both the Languedoc and Provence, along the Rhone down to the Mediterranean. Around Nîmes and the gorges of the River Gardon there is garrigue, landscapes of limestone formations and the characteristic vegetation with holm oak. Discover the town of Uzès, with its unique historic heritage. The Cévennes begin at Saint-Jean-du-Gard and Alès, the realm of chestnut trees, and the last of the Camisards’ rebellion. Further south, where the land and water are closely intermingled, there is the playground of bulls and horses... La Petite Camargue near the seacoast and its beaches.
